Muskrat Carcass Collection Instructions
The following are instructions provided by the PGC:
- We would like you to collect up to 10 muskrat carcasses; Please do not save more than 10 carcasses.
- Please only collect muskrat carcasses if you have the capacity to freeze and store them until we are able to collect them. We may not be able to pick up your carcasses until mid-January.
- When saving muskrat carcasses, please use the tags provided to record the date of harvest, your name, county of harvest, township (if known) and specific location (i.e., property, stream, pond, etc…). We will only use “specific location” if we find something highly significant and need to get back to you for more information about the site. If you are able to save carcasses before tags arrive, please include the above information on a homemade tag as available.
- Please freeze each carcass individually in some form of plastic bag (grocery bags are fine) and include the tag in the bag. Your efforts to keep the tags readable and clean are greatly appreciated!
We will be providing summary information on the Muskrat Trapper Survey results in the future.
Not all of the trappers who agreed to collect carcasses provided email contacts – Please feel free to share this information with other muskrat trappers in your area.
Thank You and have a great and safe trapping season!

District 8 Shrimp and Chicken Feed
District 8 Shrimp and Chicken feed meeting at the Blain Picnic Grounds, Perry County. We had a great meeting today. 55 members present. The big news is that District 8 of the PTA has partnered with the Sherman’s Valley Strutters Chapter of the NWTF to host a sanctioned senior and junior turkey calling contest at our April 6th, 2019 spring sportsmans show at the Blain Picnic Grounds. For more info, or to see the flyer, check out the District 8 page on the PTA website: patrappers.com OR call George McEntee at 717-732-8099
